Keep Richard Zednik in Your Prayers Folks...

The worst thing imaginable happened in the hockey world last night. Richard Zednik of the Florida Panthers came within a few centimeters of his life. In an incident evoking images of Clint Malarchuk Zednik was slashed through the Carotid Artery in the neck accidentally by the skate falling Panthers captain Olli Jokinen. Zednik is now resting comfortably in Buffalo General Hospital after undergoing emergency life-saving surgery to repair the artery. He is in stable condition.

I heard about that awful injury when I got back in town. My best friend from high school died of a severed carotid artery. I'm glad Zednik got medical attention soon enough, and am amazed that he could skate off the ice. Our division sure has had more than its share of freak injuries this season.
